The day started out great for Tori so far. Sleeping in a tree when it started pouring never made her feel better. She only had to find someplace remotely dry. She wasn't very wet, her jacket was water proof, so after an hour of laying out in the sun with her face in the shade she dried off pretty quickly. So here she was, walking with a happy skip in her step, of course not skipping. She would never do such a degrading act. At either rate she had stopped by the docks to look out at the sea. Wondering about what mysteries were on the other side of the large body of water that seemed to have no end. After sight-seeing, she obviously did the next thing she always did: Grab some food.
Tori fished around in her pockets until she found some money and rushed to the market, her stomach yelling at her the whole way. "Yeah, yeah, shut up. I hear ya..." She mumbled at her stomach as it gave another loud growl at her. Soon she stopped and walked backwards, looking into a bakery. She smiled and walked in quickly, looking around. "Oh, hello, Miss, how can I help you?" An old man said, smiling at her as he wiped his hands of the flour that had cracked itself on them. "Hey, I'm basically in the mood for anything, really." Tori chuckled, sniffing the air. She loved bakery's now, they smelled so good! The man smiled and nodded, looking around the shop then grabbing a large loaf of Whole-Wheat bread. "Here we are, this was fresh made right before you showed up. And take this to, on the house," He said, smiling as he handed a small bag to Tori as well as the wrapped bread. "What for?" Tori asked, unwrapping the bread and taking a bite. "Well, by the looks of you your a trainer....but with no Pokemon. The lab is up in a tree, when you get your starter, give that to it. Pokemon love the stuff. I specially made it." He explained, taking the money Tori handed him and put it in the cash register. "It's like a Pokemon treat. Good luck, Mam." "Thanks, Old Guy!" Tori said happily, leaving the Bakery while tearing off another piece of the bread and chewing quickly. Sh wandered around, throwing away the paper the bread was in and shoving the smaller bag in her coat pocket. The bag was no larger than her hand after all.
The old man from the bakery was right, the lab was up in a tree. Tori stared up at it, chewing her inner lower lip. Wondering how she would be able to get up there. She stared up at the tree house and wondering if she could climb up the tree. "Nah, I don't want to make a bad impression..." She mumbled to herself, then called up, cupping one of her hands near her mouth to elevate her voice. "Heeeeeeeey~! Professor? You up there?"

With the way training was being treated these days, his job required it. It came as no surprise to his assistant that he hadn't shown up today. The Professor's Assistant was used to being all alone inside the tree house, caring for the Pokemon. But he was a nervous creature by nature, and the importance of this last remaining lab wasn't lost on him. So when someone loudly announced their presence beneath the lab's resident tree, needless to say he panicked. "Quiet!" He hissed angrily before he could stop himself, sticking his head out the single window. "Are you trying to get us all caught?" Granted, that was probably not a wise choice of words. Should the girl have been a Kavulent member, he would've just blown their cover to bits. But after staring her down for a few moments, he had to admit- she did look like a beginning Trainer. Loud, excitable, reckless. And alone. That helped soothe his paranoia, too.
He shook his head, sighing softly, before calling down to her in a hushed voice. "The Professor's not here right now, I'm his assistant. I'll help you though, just... try not to bring any extra attention to us, alright?" With that, he withdrew his head from the window- and hit it on the windowsill with a loud thump. Swearing under his breath, he scrambled away to unlock the trap door which served as the only entrance. That done, he dropped down the rope ladder to the girl, gesturing that she should get inside. Sooner rather than later, if at all possible.
He adjusted his glasses upon his face, running a hand through his disheveled hair as he turned to scan the lab. It was kind of a mess right now... He hadn't been expecting anyone, just another long day of sitting here with the Pokemon. He should probably tidy up a bit. Grumbling irately to himself, he set about gathering the various Pokeballs strewn across the room- a task that was easier said than done, as there were many Pokeballs and it was a very large room. Ugh. Not the impression he wanted to make on a fresh new Trainer, but oh well. She'd learn the dangers of working undercover as she progressed through the League. Might as well start learning now. Tori waited patiently as someone seemed to be getting onto her about something. She stared up at them, catching the words caught and a few others. She wasn't really listening. The it hit her, she forgot that trainers were...well...lower and not liked very well. Also that apparently there was an evil team roaming around. "Oooh, sorry about that. Completely skipped my mind." She called back up, a lot more quite than before. As soon as the ladder was dropped she didn't take it, oh no. To easy for Tori, she just had to climb up that tree. She had to! her life depended on it!
So there she went, scurrying up the tree at a pretty fast pace, would have gotten into the lab a lot faster if she had just taken the ladder, no, to easy, she wanted a challenge. Tori managed to get into the lab and pulled the ladder up quickly, smiling at the assistant. "Sorry again, I completely forgot about everything that has been going on. Where I grew up none of this trouble really reached us." She gave a small chuckle and looked around. "A lot bigger in here than I thought. A real homy feel."
Tori then turned back to the assistant with a large smile on her face. She just stood there all happy, waiting patiently while glancing around at everything. None of this civil war and evil team stuff bothered her. Not at all. She saw it as something that just didn't affect her, of course, she also knew she could protect herself. But what about the assistant and the Professor? Could they? Probably so with these Pokemon, but Tori didn't need one to protect her what so ever. If the time came when she had to get into a fist fight, so be it. Her Pokemon could order her around then.

It was stupid, excitable kids like these that were going to be the death of him. If he hadn't loved the Pokemon so much, he never would've taken up a job as blatantly illegal as this one. But, well... He did love Pokemon, and he thought it was horrible that training was banned. So for now, here he would stay, risking his freedom every day for brats that rarely ever said so much as a thank you.
Speaking of brats. Where was she? She should be up here by now. Paranoia coming back full force, he whirled around to look- just to find her scrambling inside, pulling the ladder up behind her. Why on earth did she not use it? Bah, forget that, he knew. Trainers were all the same, never wanting to take the easy way out. Mumbling to himself at her comment (sounding more amused than annoyed, to be honest), he turned back around to address his little collection of Pokeballs. He'd found several of them, although he hadn't been successful in rounding up every last one. He looked back over his shoulder, expecting her to blurt out a Pokemon and be done with it. When she remained silent, he raised an eyebrow at her in surprise, before switching his gaze back to the capsules.
She wanted to do this formally, did she? Fine, then. The Professor's Assistant gathered up all the Pokeballs in his arms, before turning his whole body to face her. "So, you wish to become a Pokemon Trainer?" Knowing she'd say yes, he moved on, not waiting for an answer. "Choosing your starting Pokemon is an important choice. They will be by your side for the rest of your journey, and far beyond that. Do you have an idea of which you'd like?" Yes, that sounded formal enough. Looking rather pleased with himself, he took a step forward to offer his arm-full of Pokeballs to her- and promptly tripped, sending them all flying. "Great Arceus, I'm so sorry!" There was a flash of red light as one of them popped open, releasing its Pokemon into the tree-house. {I have internet but barely~! I feel happy~ Also, I don't know if I can control the Pokemon yet or not, so I'll be mild with it :3}

Tori waited happily, a smile on her face. Her patience was one of the ages...........no, not really. She wasn't that patient, but she could pretend to be while on the inside screaming in impatience and wanting to punch something out of boredom. But she could pretend to be patient, for a while at least. Living in the mountains kinda made you that way. She watched with happy eyes as he brought the pokeballs out, almost shaking in excitement...until he tripped. She gave a surprised cry and said, "Are you OK!?" She was hoping so, an injured person wouldn't be a good thing, Tori was no nurse. She then looked at what the red light released.
It was cute, but Tori knew better during it's final stage of evolution. The last form this Pokemon went through was a powerful fire type, something Tori was infatuated with since she was just a kid, like dragon types. A Cyndaquil. The small fire mouse Pokemon tended to be very timid, funny given their power once they trained. She knelled down to the Pokemon and smiled, holding out a hand for it to smell. "Hey there, little guy...or gal." She said, hoping it was a male, a female was good to. But her father only had male Pokemon on his team, it was something Tori became used to having around. Oh a female would be a little ironic to her, but an adventure she couldn't pass up. "So, is it a guy or a girl?" She asked the assistant, smiling at him quickly before looking back to the fire mouse.
Tori was happy, to say in the least. The small Pokemon had sniffed her hand, but how it really was she wasn't quite certain about. Would the Pokemon like her? Accept her as it's trainer? Or would it dislike her and be tough to deal with? Tori knew everything (well, almost everything) about fire and dragon types. Fire types were either timid at their first stage, either that or cheerful, happy, sometimes even docile or modest. It all depended on the species of the Pokemon itself. Dragons acted noble and their personalities ranged from everything, but they all had something in common: their power and grace.
